Greetings.
A few years ago I read a book about this amazing place in Columbia, (Gaviotas) where some coked up scientist (ha) decided to make a self suficient colony in the harsh planes of Columbia. They did some amazing things, and apparenty they’re still at it. www.friendsofgaviotas.org
This site will tell you all about it, and I definitely recommend reading the book (Heath, i think you may have read it, but i’m a reefer so please forgive me, and congrats on the house). It’s very uplifting, and the site has some way cool pictures of things they have created. Bennett - having read the Red Mars trilogy, you should definitely check this out, book and all, these people will have much to do with any off world colonizing, they are truly amazing. Word to your mothers.
